DESCRIPTION:
The flesh of this heirloom acorn is a golden yellow color that gradually turns deep orange in storage and the rind is dark green and ribbed but will yellow and turn orange in long-term storage. Allow it to fully mature on the vine for best flavor. Harvest before frost, leaving the stem attached to the fruit. Store at 45-55 F in a dry place. 25 Seeds. 80 days to maturity.

DIRECT SEEDING:
Sow in rich, fertile soil in full sun after danger of frost. Sow 1-2 seeds about 36" apart and cover with 1" of fine soil. Firm lightly and keep evenly moist. Seedlings emerge in 10-14 days. THIN to leave 2 or 3 seedlings in each group. Provide plants with extra water during dry weather. Do not plant squash family crops in the same spot 2 years in a row.
HARVEST:
Harvest often and when fruits are mature. Cut the fruits from the vines with stem attached, then cure them for a week in a warm, dry location with good air circulation. Use winter squash to make pumpkin pie, or bake it and serve it as a side dish. An excellent source of vitamin A.
STORAGE:
Store in a cool, dry place at 45-55°F for use throughout the winter, 3-4 months.
