I would have been a lot lower functioning actually if not for my mom. She did a lot of what is similar to ABA treatment that help kids today. It is quite amazing how much 10 years makes. I am 25 and just 10 years ago, no one knew about it or anything. My parents had to struggle to figure out everything themselves. I now write articles online to help others since I also have bipolar and physical issues that prevent me from working.

Even 6 years ago when my son was diagnosed us parents were figuring things out on our own. The support is growing and the numbers of people with Autism are growing. Thank you for sharing your experience, it is so important to educate others, I think it is wonderful you write online!
