The listing, Hard to get 2009 set of Lincoln bicentennial birth coins! has ended.
In 1909 the penny changed from Indian Head to Lincoln to commemorate the Centennial of his birth. 50 years later the back of that coin changed from the wheat design to the Lincoln Memorial design. Another 50 years later in 2009 a special Lincoln set was produced to commemorate the Bicentennial of Lincolns birth and the 100th year of the Lincoln Cent. These were authorized in 2005 by President George Bush. These were produced for only a year before the reverse of the coins changed again 2010. Sadly the collectors got almost all of these very collectible coins. I just went through a hoard of pennies collected over a 30 year period and managed to secure a few very fine examples of these coins from that hoard. They are circulated but are in very nice shape. Very difficult to find! There are four varieties and you get one of each. One represents his "Birthplace" showing a log cabin, one shows him in his "Formative Years" studying on a log, one shows his "Professional Life" standing in front of a US Building and the last his "Presidency" showing the US Capital. Produced in only one year with few reaching circulation these are a must for any collection! Make a great gift or investment. Free Shipping!
