Description

The listing, rare no-copper penny has ended.

this is a rare error that happens during the minting process where the zinc planchet skips getting a copper layer on it. this penny is slightly pitted due to zinc being a highly oxidizable metal. the year of this coin is 1988. process can be initated on regular pennies by reverse electroplatin but in that case the details get blurred badly. this penny has perfect details which means that this error did in fact occur in the minting process. only real one i have ever seen for real the first picture shows this penny next to a normal one.

like i said in the description, it depends on whether or not is occured in the mint. i have seen genuine mint error ones go for up to 60$ but a person can duplicate this process by using the penny as a copper plate conductor in vinegar. you can tell if it is real by if it is bigger around than a regular penny. if it skips being coated in copper while still in the mint, the penny will be softer because zinc is very soft. this causes the penny to spread out further when stamped. also if it was done by vinegar electical reaction, the coin will be very pitted while a real mint error will only have oxidation pitting.hope this helps
