Description

The listing, 1943 (RARE ZINC) WORLD WAR 2 DISNEY WAR EFFORT MICKEY RING has ended.

Remember the 1943 "zinc" penny?
from 1942-1945, walt disney was an integral part of the total "war effort" in america. from producing training films for each branch of our military, to propaganda films against both nazi germany and imperial japan, promotions of "war bonds", to the promoting of both public and troop moral, this mickey ring was part of the successful promotional metal recycling/salvaging drive war effort to (especially) collect such metals as copper and brass-------these type of "advertising" rings were made of brass upto this time, but during the war, brass became essential in the making of artillery shells and such like. thus, these mickey rings were specifically made of zinc to both conserve and to promote the war effort in america.

made in 1943, and of zinc, the same year the production of pennies went from "copper to zinc", this rare ring is both an historical disney and "america at war" piece.

this is also the very last of what was originally a fifty (50) unworn "advertising" ring collection, three (3) of which i was fortunate to obtain, and, the only ring of its kind in the collection; all of the others were made of brass.

thanks for stopping by!!! your thoughts and comments are always welcomed and appreciated!

as always: free shipping with tracking! woohooooo!!!

if you have a smile, please share yours with someone who doesn't. :-) (-:

The 1943 penny was made of steel coated with zinc. Todays' pennies are copper coated zinc. The modern penny is made of 97.5 percent zinc and 2.5 percent copper. Cool ring thogh, what size is it?

Hey Steve! Thanks for the info and your comments! These advertising rings are and were, always "adjustable". Thankfully, the original collector always left these unworn and unadjusted. And... THANKS FOR BIDDING!!!

Hey silverdollardave! I am glad that You took the time to check this out! Thank You! As for finding the specific timeline for "Mickey" here, it required the knowledge of the "advertising rings" first, which i had already acquired over the years, and timelines involved with them, as well as the metallurgy associated with them; then Disney's use of them and Disney's involvement in advertising (such as the use and implementation for Disney's OWN advertising, as well as OTHER companies be granted use of various characters, such as the other Mickey Brass Advertising Ring that I had, which was for the Conoco Oil Company and was brass). And other than the hours of comparative research, added to it all, the Beginning and Final key that helped tie it ALL in, was that this is simply "just" a M-I-C-K-E-Y ring. That brought it all back to WALT DISNEY himself, his activities, the present events at the, time, and this NOT being associated with Any Other activity, event or company or promotion. (I hope that this sufficiently answered your Great Question, my Friend!) The history of everything I search for and obtain is Always paramount to the acquisition of it, and the Most Fun of it!!! Thanks again Buddy!!!

Hi paig! So you like the history of your items too! That's my favorite part! Never any markings on these rings; it was Always about the face, the presentation, the "advertising" message: ya wouldn't find these in the jewery store! Earlier, a Bidder asked for some more info, which---if you scroll down about 10 comments---you will see what I was able to provide for him. Please let me know what you think. And Thank You For Your Interest and Asking!
