Oh ok, so I don't need to place it in any kind of substrate? Would like to put these in reptile tanks, one wit a sand substrate & the other a coconut husk... also curious how to start the seeds? :)

You can place them anywhere, they don't need soil. They have seed pods right now, which open and will spread on their own. Just use a spray bottle and spray water every few days. The starts should do well as long as they have something to attach their roots to. I suggest a tree branch or the coconut husk is a great idea.
