The listing, Hand Painted Antique Box has ended.

This box is very old and in excellent condition. I bought it in a local antique store quite a few years ago. It is hand painted and been kept in exceptional condition. I cannot find any flaws anywhere. The box is 7 3/4" wide (at its widest point) and 5 1/4" long. The depth is 2 1/2". There are two brass hinges on the back and the latch on the front is brass also. Truly a magnificent piece! Will be shipped free within 48 hours after the auction ends, always packed with love and tracking! I set an extremely reasonable GIN for this box, especially considering it's age and excellent shape! Good luck to all who are bidding!

i wasn't trying to be rude I too have been an antique dealer for as much time as your mom and I have an antique store in norfolk va.you can go look it up,attic treasures.I have the companion piece to your box in my store right now and it is not an antique an antique by law must be 100 years old and your item is not 100.if i wanted to be rude i would have posted an entirely different type of comment.nobody is trying to ruin your auction i was actually trying to help you..I am also an artist for 60 years that specializes in restoring handpainted antique items and the flowers on the box are modern which is another way you can ascertain age.you may hide the comment if you wish but that doesn't change my educated opinion.

i remember seeing these items in home emporium early in 2001 and then pier one also.i think they came from mexico

That was really rude of you. I think sheilawilliams was trying to be helpful because it IS a pier one piece. I have one EXACTLY like it. Just because it came from an antique shop doesn't guarantee it's old.

I am related to the people the box came from originally. I think it is rude to put negative comments on people's auction pages. My Mother has been an antique dealer for over 50 years. She saw the box and said it's extremely old. There are no markings on it, and if you really look at the box you can see it is definately not something that was mass produced. You can even see each brushstroke in the painting. If I wanted to be rude, I could have hidden her comment like most people.

Sorry for the delayed reply, it is already packed for shipping. My mom helps me with packing stuff cause she's a pro and I wasn't sure if she already took care of this one. If you really want me to I can unpack it, but I'm not that familiar with different scents of trees (except Christmas trees, lol!)

This is a lovely example of one of the boxes and trunks that are made in China. I dealt in these giftware items as well as antiques and second-hand.for many years. An important indicator is the felt/flocking lining that is found in most of the boxes and trunks recently available from China. They are lovely keepsake pieces that are excellent for storing family heirlooms or other precious items and are beautiful decor accents. This piece is definitely not an antique but if it appeals to a buyer then they should bid on it now they know the true situation.These boxes and trunks were one of the most popular items that I sold!

The inside is not felt it is a thick black cloth material, nowhere on the box is there an indication that it is from China!
