Hi Raven! First I'm going to direct you to the description. Not sure if you're new to jewelry, BUT in the "setting" section, I've listed what it's strung on. I've stated it's a choker, therefore it's hanging from something silly! Second, nowhere in this description does it state smokey quartz. This is simply cut crystal. As for the metal, it is definitely NOT sterling silver. I'm thinking alloy or aluminum? It's not old at all, or I would have listed it as vintage. I purchased it about a year ago as a brooch and re-worked it in the studio. Hope this helps :-)
