I have one myself & it does work. It takes a bit of getting used to. Your hair should be damp or have product in it when u blow dry in it the thing. Holds the curl better

First let me say, I commend you on putting your family first. Now for the question. Will this work on short hair or does it say? My hair is just above my shoulders and I am trying to grow it back out.

It actually recommends it work better on shorter hair. I have one of my own and my hair is very long. Its awkward to use.
