Common Milkweed Seeds (Asclepias syriaca)

A perannial that the Monarch Butterfly depends upon. The milkweed is the only food the Monarch larvae feed on and with the dramatic drop in the Monarch Butterfly population, milkweed is vital to their survival.

Grows to 3 - 5 ft high, full sun, and moist soil.The seeds open between September through October. These seeds were harvested the last week of October 2014. They have been stratified and are ready to plant. I also include 5 extra seeds just in case you need them.

I would recommend starting indoors now so they will be growing and have some heft before planting after the last frost. They are slow starters as many other plants are already out before they get growing. The Monarchs really need to have the food source on their return and this will give them an advantage.
