The listing, Dragonware moriage Vintage! SHOFU FULL SIZE cup and bonus moriage saucer...beautiful! has ended.

Full size moriage dragonware cup measuring a 4" opening and approx. 2.5" tall....marked in red Shofu China and Made in occupied Japan which dates it before 1948 during US occupation of Japan. Cup has scalloped rim and is in wonderful vintage condition!! No chips, cracks or fleabites observed. The white at the very bottom rim, which you might question, is simply where the artist did not paint all the way to the bottom edge..not a chip..

The saucer is a bonus 4-3/4" marked in red also, PIC Made in Japan. The saucer is, I think, a little small for this cup but it is how I had it displayed and, as I said before, I've been picking up pieces here and there for years. The saucer has two black dots/marks which appear to be under glaze (see pics) and there are a couple of flea bites on the underneath rim. That is why it is listed as a bonus to the so excellent cup.
The moriage is very heavy and detailed on both pieces.

I own 2 of these types of cups each has a painted figure on the inside bottom of the cup can you give me any info on these? Thank you

I have and have seen a geisha appear when you hold some up to the light but they are not painted on. I would suggest you google dragonware and there is a lot of information there.....lithopane is, I believe, what the geisha is called. Some are just the face and some a fully nude geishas. This auction item does not have the geisha.just to be clear. Carole

I spend my whole day doing the things I can for credits. I have 4 done today that is supposed to credit instantly well guess what? They still have not given them to me. If it wasn't for bad luck I would not have any luck at all. Oh goodness it is becoming too much on me sitting here for hours for nothing in the end, and half the ones I do I get half way done and then they say all of a sudden that I did not qualify for the survey. So after today if they still won't credit me I am done doing them. You know you just get to the point that it becomes overwhelming. Since my stroke in December it is hard on me doing all of this. I have trouble trying to type even it takes me longer to find the letters and spell right. It took that away too and it bites! Well again happy auction and one day I will get me a piece, maybe LoL!
