I obtained these mini luffa balls from a show at the Indiana Gourd Society this past fall. They are remarkable little gourds that dry nicely as shown.

These photo depicts the gourds with a translucent paint finish - aren't they fantastic? As the second photo shows, their insides are round miniatures of the long luffa type gourd.

I haven't seen these available through seed catalogs, so I am offering 15 of these seeds to a lucky winner! Start them in peat pellets and ensure all danger of frost has passed to transfer them to the outdoors.

Can these be dried and used as sponges like the regular long ones?

Yes, they are the same. However, these are small in diameter about 1-1/2" diameter max. I've used some in gourd artwork as the outside covering is pretty durable and that is the painted surface you see in the photo.

Oh wow . That's small but intriguing lol. Like to grow and use loofah for pot scrubbers for non stick skillets. Don't like cutting large ones down. Mixed art media. Fall crafts the wheels are spinning now. Thanks
