No, this top comes off it is about an inch wide opening to drink out of. The top of the canteen is attached so you will not lose it. The top screws off.

The outer cover was my husbands and he has had it for many years, the canteen itself is new. I just got it at the Quantico PX. Didn't think any one would want a used one. Thanks for stopping by and making your comment.
