FREE: Gypsy Key Necklace

Like most of my creations, I start with a story in mind. This piece was inspired by my imagining that this necklace is a rare one for a gypsy, since it has a key. This gypsy is so lucky to have made such a close friend that she has been given this key to the friend's house. The gypsy can come by and stay for however long she needs to rest.

Of course, a gypsy lucky enough to have a key necklace hides it under her clothes in the presence of other gypsies to avoid jealousy and suspicion. However, if the gypsy is in town alone, wearing the key outside her clothing shows others she is an honest and trustworthy person and will trade fairly with all.

The gypsy attaches a piece of sentimental heirloom jewelry to the key itself and always has a framed photo of a dear loved one on the chain, a celestial charm (a moon in this case) to remind the gypsy if she is down, it will remind her that the world abounds with magic and good things can never be too far away. Finally, as a smart gypsy, she carries with her a real freshwater pearl to trade for a high priced item she finds necessary such as lavender oil, fabric or herbs.

Actual Facts about this piece:

Key is definitely an old vintage key I bought at a flea market (it is NOT one of those craft ones you can buy), I don't know how much of the piece in its entirety is silver-filled and/or plated. The pearl is a genuine cultured freshwater pearl. The other items are new. All hangs on a pretty diamond-cut style ball chain.
