this is a dickie, I believe, so you can have the turtleneck look under another shirt without the bulk of a whole shirt turtleneck

Yeah, I think a dickie is actually just the neck and a small piece of fabric attached, so it kinda goes under say a blazer or something, so it looks like a turtleneck, but you don't have the bulk, etc.
