Questions & Comments
Is this full book or salesman's sample?
These books were sold by traveling salesmen.
Salesman samples exist of this book.
They have less pages that skip numbers and an order page in front.
The author signed most of the first copy of the book because he was very close with the president and was effected very much by his death. The books after the 1st editions were not signed. They went door to door back then to try to sell the book but it was so expensive a lot of people did not have the money to but the book so it was an incentive.
This book is valued between 75.00 to 150.00 only because there were not many sold because the price the wanted back then for the book was more then most people could afford.
i dont want to argue but they were not individually signed. i put your signature over mine and it is exactly the same. if you look at other people selling this book and look at the signatures they are all the same-even the little times his pen filled in the letter.
That was what I was told when I bought the book that he pen signed them. look on the last page of your book and see if the signature there is the same.
I am sorry you got took! I wish you all the luck on your auction. It is really a fascinating book with some little known facts about William McKinley. It is a absolute treasure for anyone's library. The author is a fantastic writer and you really get a feeling for that era in our American history. Any book collector or history buff would truly enjoy this book.
