Its not impossible if the code is origin. Just google Sims Midieval registration codes, write a bunch of them down, start the installation, and go through the list. I've done it several times for D Deluxe since i lost the book with no problems. Dont let that origin stuff scare you away from getting a cool game.

The only thing that really renders a game useless is if the disc is corrupt. If thats ever the case, contact EA, supposedly they replace corrupt cds. Most of the time if the game doesnt work its because your graphics card isnt beefy enough to run it. There's a site that offers updated versions, patches, codes, registration codes, and gen keys for this game. Hope this answers questions anybody may have about these games :D
