ROYAL RED CATCHFLY (Silene regia)

Produces loose spikes of red blooms around July and August. Grows easily from seed and can be transplanted. Very bright, attractive blooms. Sticky calyx can trap or "catch" small insects, hence the common name.

Sow 1/16" deep in sun or part shade in spring after danger of frost or in summer. Holding seeds in refrigerator for 2-3 weeks before sowing may improve germination. Space 6-8" apart. 15+ seeds.
