The ring and earrings used to be my sisters and are not a set. I just thought they looked nice together.

I took the ring to a jeweler. They verified that it was CZ and that it was stamped 925. It also has other markings that she could not make out.

I had the jeweler clean the ring and this is the best they could do; saying if they cleaned it anymore they would "change the color". I have no idea what that meant. Change the color on what??

I don't go to that jeweler anymore because they had never heard of some of the more common exotic gemstones.

Ring has a nice presentaiton on the hand and will definately be noticed across the room!!

The band on the ring is as tarnished as it looks in the pictures. The stone is set with 6 prongs. and has 4 little round CZ's on each shoulder of the ring.

Earrings will come with the backs.

the jeweler meant it would change the color of the band, because .925 silver is not pure silver but the highest(almost) that you will find for jewelery because pure silver is way to soft for any jewelry. sterling silver is graded as 1000 for pure and the 925/1000 means it is .925/1000 of real sterling silver so almost pure the rest of the metal can be copper,nickel,etc.. to make the metal strong enough to stand up to making items. so what she was saying is that if she cleaned it anymore then some of the copper or other metal may begin to show through the sterling silver even though it is well mixed together the color clarity would change with the chemicals.
