I have a work book (k-2). Two pages have been colored on but the rest of the book is in great shape.. Called Balancing Literacy~A balanced approach to reading and writing instruction (creative teaching press)
This book helps your child with reading, writing, phonics, spelling, write journals, different kinds of activities in here too..
Here's one of the activities I came across that I really like:

CHARACTER MOBILES
You can have the kids get a picture of their mom, dad, grand parents, etc..
Put it on a hanger (in the middle)..and tell things about them such as:
"Grandma"~ nice, fun, smart, kind, etc..
Take string or yarn and hang it from the bottom of the hanger with the words from above..
It tells everything you will need for the mobile..

And so many more activities also.
