Janis Saffell is one of the better videotape instructors around; her directions are clear yet not condescending, her tone is motivational without being overly perky, and her exercises are easy to follow. Crunch's Brand New Butt is a 30-minute video designed to tone and firm your bottom. The workout is deceptively easy-looking, yet quite challenging when you actually begin to lift and squat along with the class. The beginning exercises, which warm up your legs, are followed by four sections of lower body movements--two sets standing, two sets on the floor--and the tape closes, of course, with a cool-down. Two- to five-pound weights are necessary, as is a chair or step top for balance (although the more advanced may choose to skip it)
