Hello! This is a 3 piece butter dish set. The bottom bowl is used to put cool water or ice in to keep your butter cool. (You will notice the fill line in the picture). Great idea for the warmer months! I'm not sure of the material but if I had to guess, I would say porcelain. Thank you for your interest! Free shipping. I'm so sorry but no gin offers.

I just got one of these at a yard sale. It was the first time I ever saw one, but knew exactly what it was..... for me, it's a butter Warmer! You melt your butter (microwave) in the top section, then put hot water in the bottom section to help keep your butter stay melted longer. Came in real handy with the king crab we just had! :-)

Hi,This is called a Butter Boat.It made to keep your butter spreadable at all times.You fill to the water line and out the butter holder on top.Its great for summer months also cause the butter doesn't spoil,stays cool yet spreadable.I collected these for many years.Good luck
