So it's essentially a type of grass? would it be good for filling out areas that have become thin , or have no grass at all?

This grass would be great for filling areas that have become thin, The amount of seed might not be enough to fill ground that doesn't have grass at all though. http://www.bluegrasses.com/

it might look a little odd if you dont allready have bluegrass though

The amount of seed here is not really enough for a whole yard...more of something you would use in a potted decoration or just novelty. I have heard it does mix fine with other grass though and makes it look fuller.
