You don't have to be a PlayPass Redbox member, but I do believe in order to rent any movie (including freebie movies) you do have to have a basic account (name, address, valid credit/debit card, and probably email on file with them). They have to know who has their discs out, obviously so that even if you rent a movie for one day for free, they can still charge your account or card if you were to keep for additional nights. So, yes, I'd say you have to have at least a basic acct. with them to use. Thanks!
