The listing, Sockit to me baby! has ended.
As you may have gathered from my title this is a lot of sock yarn. Winner gets ALL this is not a tiered lot. This yarn is still in the original shrink wrap packaging and is great for socks or beanies or whatever you decide to do with it. I offer free shipping to VERIFIED addresses ONLY, sorry no exceptions. Happy bidding and have a wonderful day! Thanks for looking.
To be honest I haven't made a pair of socks in years, but according to my book (depending on the length you want the top and the size of sock you make) a basic sock takes 3.5 oz(270 yards) if using size 3 double pointed needles. This is for a pair, I hope this helps.
Sorry for the late reply I didn't see this comment until now I opened another ball of the same kind of yarn and didn't see a pattern so I googled it and found patterns that called for as little as 90 yards and some that could take up to 460 yards depending on the length of the top of the sock. If your friend knits ankle socks these should be fine but I won't say 100% definitely that they can as there are variable in how they knit, what size needles and sock length though. But should you decide to bid and you do win then at least they can make socks for kids... or beanies. Either way I admire them we need more people like this in the world :) Happy crafting and have a wonderful day!!!
If I may offer some help...what I have seen recently is that 1 of these 50 g balls would make a pair of children's socks, but it would take 2 balls to make a pair of adult socks.
Thank you for the input, as I said I haven't made socks in years. This is yarn from a friend of my moms who passed away a few years ago and I just couldn't bear to watch it sit in boxes... Happy crafting and have a wonderful day!!!
