The Tumult and the Shouting. By Grantland Rice. Memorial Edition. Leather-bound. Copyright: 1954. Good condition - a few cover bumps and wear, binding intact. Illustrated. 1st Edition. 368 pages.
Grantland Rice was the greatest sports writer of all time. A former baseball player that had to retire early due to injury, he covered all sports at a time when the print media was the only one available. Although he did live long enough to see the time when radio and television were covering sporting events. Later in the book he blames television for the demise of minor league baseball. Interesting story.
