Description
The listing, Vintage Handmade Pine Needle Basket has ended.
This is a vintage handmade pine needle basket by unknown person. Was an estate sale buy. It has a lid that fits it which is domed.
The basket is in good condition except for a few threads that probably should be cut.
It measures 9" tall and has a 25" circumference.

Ooh you must please shed some more light on this lovely basket. Do you have any clues you could share? Thanks!!! This is an amazing group of treasures you are sharing with Listia this time. Not that all aren't treasures. lol FWB njoypeace
I made pine needle baskets for years and sold them on ebay, galleries and individuals. Mine took a lot of time and had designs on them by using different colored threads. This is the common pine needle basket, actually made with dried pine needles and fabric cut thin for coiling. This is a coiled basket not a woven basket. Coiled means it begins with a start like a circle and radiates out and up. Takes a great deal of skill to make them and lids are hard to make and fit. This one has a good lid.
I would guess this was made sometime in the early 1950's as making pine needle baskets were a lot. You can go online and search pine needle basket history and learn a lot. Thanks. Fanned you too. Shirley

thanks, I am actually downsizing. Got too much collectibles if you know what I mean. Pine Needle baskets were mostly done on the southeastern coastal area of US.
