Description
The listing, Antique Civil War Steel Engraved Portrait of General J. E. Johnston has ended.
A rare steel engraved portrait of Confederate Gen. J. E. Johnston with probably an engraved autograph (although autograph appears to be in different print than picture?) The engraving is from the 1870's and was matted by my aunt probably in the 1950's. The portrait is in an 8 x 10 Conderate gray matte. Gen. Johnston was the commander of forces opposing Union Gen. Sherman's attack on Atlanta. Years later he would be a pallbearer for Gen. Sherman and at the funeral he caught pneumonia that would kill him.
There is a little condition issues, brownish spotting which is shown in the pictures.
