The listing, Coro Cameo Locket/Brooch has ended.

Very pretty Coro brooch/locket with a cameo face. This is goldtone (no marks other than Coro) on the back of the locket. It hangs approximately 2-1/8 inches. Cameo is shell. There is some discoloration which I didn't want to try to remove on the mount around the cameo. The right side of the locket is slightly bent.

I know quite a bit about the history of Coro jewelry. It was considered to be high end costume jewelry. The company started in 1901. Top designers were used in production of this affordable jewelry. Some Coro marks can help date these. For example thick cursive would be 1940. This is very collectible jewelry. Of course if it were in the original box in good condition it would be better. It is free, so what a great find. Anyone who likes carved shell cameos will love this.

From just a quick search...this looks like a 1930-40's cameo and have seen them listed for $25.00 and up on etsy...eBay and others...some are listed for more. Great find for free and if you are a collector...a treasure! F and W.
