No, your mom can alter it for you....anything can be alter...I used to work as a seamstress altering mens suits all day! It is really hard altering men's jackets~

Ohhhhhhhh I love this skirt...it is so awesome~ I think you can wear this to work...ok the waist is 34 and stretchy...now the length..26in to the end of the velvet and 30 inches to the complete end. Depending on how you have in your mind to wear it...you can wear it to work :) The waist band is very comfortable as it is a flat line of black soft elastic. No tight binding. You can actually breathe in this! Unless you wear a super tight corsette with it....I love those too....my problem is...is that I love everything black...you know what I mean....Learned from auntie and now little cousin (11yr) is being called Goth at school cuz she only wears black. Well....she likes it...we all do...she is our baby :)xoxoxoxoxo
