Chives are great for cooking but did you know if you let them go to flower they are totally beautiful? Well, they are and that is why I don’t relegate them solely to the herb garden. I have them here, there and everywhere. They tend to annoy deer (they don’t like the smell) who come looking to eat my hosta, so they move on. YAY!

Scatter the seeds on soil, cover lightly with soil and press down firmly. Then water and try to keep moist until germination. Depending on when you plant them, it may take several days or even weeks for germination, so be patient.
