If your the adventurous gardener that likes to experiment with new plant cuttings this is the one to try. I mostly grow it for its lovely silvery-green needle like foliage. It is a wonderful accent plant for texture and color. Do not expect flowers all season as explained below.
One of the most dramatic plants for spilling over the sides of containers, lotus bears soft, silvery foliage and bold, lobster-clawlike flowers in shades of orange, red, and yellow. Many lotus varieties bloom best in spring or fall as cool nighttime temperatures encourage blooms. In warm-winter areas, lotus is a striking evergreen perennial groundcover. It grows best in full sun with well-drained soil. I over winter my plant after growing it outside all summer. I am offering up to 10 cuttings of the leggy winter growth perfect for starting new plants.
Your best starting this in the well-drained soil such as a seed starting mix or regular potting soil mixed with half cactus soil. The best way to plant this is too lay the stem on top of the soil and lightly cover it. The worst thing you can do is keep it too wet damping off occurs quickly.
