Description

The listing, 1964 Superman Comic Book: "Action Comics" #317 (Oct 1964) has ended.

For your consideration:

This is a silver age comic book from October of 1964; quite old eh? Just to let you know ahead of time; there has been one atrocity that this comic book has been submitted to, which can be seen from the scan; that atrocity is that the "S" logo on the front of Supes costume (in all 3 frames) has been "blacked" out by someone who thought they were Jerry Siegel or Joe Shuster I guess?!? Haha! So, normally the "S" would be it's signature red but, again, someone has black "inked out" the red of the "S"s. There are other flaws that are visible on the scans as well; there is some writing in pen on the front and back cover, the spine is seriously rolled (staples are visible on the back cover scan) thus the centerfold is way off as well. With these obvious flaws, I'm not certain that repair work hasn't been done to this issue. As is the case with a "Very Good" (VG) graded comic, these flaws are very noticeable. The comic book is still entirely complete and totally readable though. All of that being said, I am not a professional appraiser of comic books. I have, however, graded this issue honestly and to the best of my ability while utilizing modern grading scales as a template. If you should have any questions about this particular comic book, do not hesitate to ask. I will get back with you soon. Thanks so much for looking!

Sincerely,
jimvertigo

Thanks ... its a nickname I got from a former boyfriend. I see what your saying about the staples. But still shouldn't hurt that much.

Whats up Jimmy V. I'm more focused on getting the 100 toy soldiers for $1.25. Hopefully there still in business....lol. I just realized, I live 15 minutes from that address on those toy soldiers. I had fanned you a while back and went to hit your name, I hit the fan button by mistake. So you might get a message that I fanned you again. That comic book is pretty sweet no matter what condition it's in. Peace my Brotha!!!!

I was going to mention the "Action" thing. It seems they blacked out Superman's cape also. Looks like someone was already going to order those awesome toy soldiers. I had some of them and only sold them last year.

Yup. I just noticed the cape. Sorry for not noticing and noting. I thought I said that there was writing on the comic? It was like midnight when I listed this initially so I was probably half asleep like I am right now! Hehe.

More than that though is the placement of the staples. Notice how far they are from the spine on the scan of the back cover. >:^<

Markgrumbell....

The coloring did NOT bleed through to the first page of the comic. On closer examination of the back side of the front cover, I've found that the word "Action" in "Action Comics" has also had the same blacking out process that was done to all of the "S" logos on Supes chest. I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused by the revelation of this item update. I apologize but, it was an honest mistake. :0
