Questions & Comments
Indeed. You are very fortunate to have that piece. It's rare only because of the time period that it was published by Mr. Sears, and sold by the same.
I have a little more info. It is indeed very rare that you have this book, especially in this condition. Mr. Sears published the book himself and sold it through one of his now-old antique catalogs. Since it says, "Sears and Company", this would have been published after he and Mr. Roebuck had parted ways for a little while, and he had asked one other man to join him in his Company. So at that point, he renamed his business, Sears and Company. Then, a bit later, Mr. Roebuck re-joined the group and it later became Sears, Roebuck and Company because the other man wanted to be more like a 'silent partner', although, he had a big share of stocks in the Company, also. That anything like this is still around from that time period is absolutely astounding to me!!! That is amazing. =D It also verifies that this book is a TRUE antique!
Thank you so much for the information. I love hearing history on the items I have. I am always in hope there is someone who can appreciate these things as much as I do.
