Thank you for your question. Crewel is also embroidery, but uses a wool yarn, rather than cotton floss. I am not an expert, but remember It was very popular in the 60's and 70's, (now I am really dating myself) but has sort of fallen out of fashion now. I am sure you can search the term and find examples of this type of needlecraft online.
