When I say a card is near mint, it is almost in perfect condition but has very small hardly noticeable damage. That can be either wear on sides and corners, small indentations, small scratches etc.Near mint however means that there are hardly any marks such as these. If I see even slightly more damage than minimal, I classify it as "played condition". This card in particular has a small bit of wear on one corner and a hardly noticeable crease on the back which led me to rate it as a NM. For me to rate it as near mint, the card has to be almost perfect. Realistically, I usually only rate cards as Mint if I personally drew them and sleeved them from boosters. Even if they look mint to me and I didn't draw it myself, I classify it as a near mint.
