Does it work all that well or is it more for decoration and show piece? meaning will the blade hold up to cutting a small tree down?

It wouldn't be listed in hunting & camping if it was for decoration...
It would be in collectables or whatever and yes you can cut a small tree from 2 to 4 inches. I would not recommend cutting anything bigger as it may but will take you longer.
