it has an earthy smell.lite the stick blow out flame put in aholder if u don't have 1 u can use potted plant or lay it in ashtray something that will catch the ash.not sure how long will lite one & let u know. or u can not lite & put in sock draw or closet anywhere u would put candle it masks odors When mailman saw me asked what smells so good.outside still packed u can smell them
