yeah me too- had 4 kids & even with both my husband & I working-still had to penny pinch as jobs do not pay real well in PA plus medical is never free. I told the dentist I'd like to take a ride in the new car I bought her with copays!! Thank goodness the cost of living is lower; however we are still losing a lot of people.

I can tell you living in the suburbs of Buffalo is no peach! There are limited jobs & even though there's all this talk of WNY 'booming' it's great for all those ppl who have either a Computer or Engineer degree or something to do with energy. I, myself have a Criminal Justice degree & almost 2 years of Business Admin but I had taken off 5 years to raise my 3 children & when it was time to return to the workforce (3 yrs ago), my biggest challenge is the hiatus I took. Now I seem to be 'under' qualified in positions I once was 'over' qualified in. Very frustrating! Also, the jobs here don't pay well either.

Wow-guess it's bad all over.-always thought it was good in NY. I work a lot of hours now but on contract so no overtime which is where the money is. It is never 40 hrs either-I usually work 12 hr days (7AM-7 PM) & have an hr commute both to & from work so no life or free time. I am up at 4 or 5 AM to leave by 6AM & in winter I leave at 5:30 AM & don't get home until after 8:30 PM. Maybe you could commute to somewhere for a job or take online classes. That is what most of us do here. There are 759 people in our town & no jobs at all. Most people commute 1 hr each way- Pittsburgh or the other way-towards Cleveland. My son is working at a Pizza shop $9 an hr, no benefits & part-time-barely can pay his rent. I usually give him groceries or help with food and gas.. He was making $11 driving & delivery plus more hours but wear & tear on car-kept breaking down-couldn't afford to keep fixing the car & many times he didn't get any tips.
