Ok, maybe it's not John Wilkes Booth but maybe his cousin twice removed lol. Here we have what's referred to as a CDV. While the Civil War raged on, a farely new trend in photography was the photo paper. While Tin Type Photography was still the dominant norm in the field, this new studio photography medium was a cost effective replacement to the tin type but was more so made for use in Albums. The developed paper image was then mounted on a heavier card stock much like Cabinet Cards which gained popularity in the 1870s.
