This is the original; and, LOL, I remember these!!! They were on public restrooms in department stores, back in the 1970's. Most of the time people were dire to go potty, and this device was already broken. Crazy! Somebody lost their marbles to charge to go to the bathroom!!!!!!! I'm telling my age by remembering this. LOL, I was a very young teenager, when they came up with this crazy idea. =D

In Europe they often charge a small fee for using the "public" facilities. It's actually not a bad practice as it funds the sanitation and upkeep. The eateries at truck stops give out tokens with your meal purchase that can be used to get in the bathrooms. They are generally much nicer than what we see here

It is a decal produced many years ago. I'm not sure what the original would've been made of (maybe porcelain on metal?)
