If you are looking for a portable MP3/MP4 Player, this is not it. If you want a portable unit to record AV signals (RCA style video and stereo sound) this is a decent choice. The unit can record directly record and playback from an SD card, additionally you can add photos and MP3s onto the SD card for playback.
This unit has been well used by my young children for a couple of weeks during the summer to fight boredom on some long bus rides to camp. The clips that hold the battery door broke and I resorted to some crazy clue and packaging tape to keep it in place. The system seems to be holding together. As part of the "repair," I disassembled the back cover and lost one of the 10+ screws. (Sorry.)
I could not get the PC software that came with it to work; they claim you could convert videos into a Windows specific ASF format that it could play. I could not get the bundled software to work in either direction, but VLC could play the recorded video without a problem. I throw out the installation disks in disgust. For what it is worth, both YouTube and Facebook were able to accept recorded video from the unit. The only effective way to get video into the right format for the unit was to use the unit like a VCR.
I am only including the unit and video input cable. (Both of which are pictured.) You must provide your own SD card and usb cable for charging and syncing.
