This is a Vintage Walt Disney's Little Golden Book title Uncle Remus. I bought this from an antique store. It was completely sealed, so all you could see was the front of the book and could not take it out of the package. (I know, I know! I should have known.....) I bought it anyways, because I wanted it as a gift for an older lady born in the 1940's. Anyways, the back of the book shows some damage, mostly just from wear. (Normal for a 60+ year old little golden book) . Then, I found that the title page (with the copyright page) was torn out. (Not THAT big of deal, as you can date the book by the cover design and the original price of 25 cents) But THEN, I found that one page inside the book had been cut. Only one! But the cut part is completely missing. (See pics!) The book is in good shape, and the pages are tight. Just the title page is missing and that one page is cut. (What was somebody thinking to cut out a picture out of the book?)
I took it back and tried to return it, showing the damage. But being from an antique store, once you buy it, there are no returns. (I will NOT be going there again!) I am thinking that maybe somebody might not mind the damage, or maybe even has a copy that they need another one to make repairs. I can't in good conscious try to sell it to someone, so... here it is on Listia for free! (*sigh*)
