Forget me not seeds in packet
These look to be pink color. I always thought they were blue. These might be rare.
Forget-Me-Nots are easy to grow. They will bloom profusely in shady areas, and do not require a lot of attention. They prefer shade, but will do well in sun, too. They grow well in average soils but the soil should be kept moist.
A biennial is a plant that completes it’s life cycle in two seasons but Forget-me-nots reseed themselves to appear as a perennial. Germinates in 8-14 days at an optimum soil temperature of 68-72 degrees F. Seed requires darkness to germinate, cover seed with 1/8 inch fine soil and if grown in a container cover seed with black plastic until seeds germinate. Seed spacing 1 to 2 inches. Spacing between plants in the garden, 6 to 8 inches. Plant height: 6 to 10 inches.
When and where to plant:
These plants are very hardy in Alaska and will survive in a garden over many years because they readily reseed themselves to act like perennials. It is recommended that the seed be started where the plants will permanently grow. Choose an area that is sunny or has filtered sunlight and a rich, moist, well-drained soil and plant seed as soon as the soil can be prepared and has warmed in the spring. Cultivate soil, enrich with plant food, sprinkle seed on the soil surface, cover seed completely with fine soil, seed requires darkness to germinate, firm soil over seed, water well and keep moist until seedlings emerge. Plants are often started in July so they become established in the fall for bloom the following spring. For bloom the first year forget-me-nots must be started indoors 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost and be grown cool, 50 to 55 degrees F.
