I use to have several species here and they are beautiful but toxic. I read the Native Peoples when they knew the enemy was coming..would add jack in the pulpit to the pots of food they were cooking, and then they'd desert their camps. The enemy where upon reaching the deserted camp normally decided to help themselves to the food in the pot...and, fate befalls the enemy.
