I am replying to both questions since they are the same. This ring is not pure .925 sterling silver, it is copper based with a .925 sterling silver plating. So it really depends on the acid in your body. Persons with high acidity generally cannot wear copper without tarnage. I happen to be one of those people, some can wear plated jewelry and it never turn, not me. However I have found that if I paint the metal part of the ring with a clear coat of nail polish it doesn't turn on me. Hope this helps a little.
