I have very much loved these earrings; however they are a bit heavy for my ears because my left earlobe has been injured and is not able to hold these earrings. They are not terribly heavy but I wear tiny, light earrings now. These are metal and that's all I can say about the material. There is no type of marking on them that I can see but I do not think they are silver. The leverback is shiny metal just like sterling, however and has never turned my ears black or the metal has not turned either.
