Questions & Comments
what does gooseberry taste like? ive never seen or heard of them lol
Yep. A bit like a grape and a melon flavour. Lovely with rhubarb or made into a chutney, tarts, relish etc. I've always purchased frozen gooseberries online. They're hard to find in American markets. They're so common in UK that they're even in the canned fruit aisle.
Be sure to place the seeds in your refriderator for a day or two before planting in pots. Keep moist and cover with a plastic wrap to retain moisture. There's a handy website for growning gooseberries from seed:
We can sometimes find the green gooseberry in fancier markets around here. I saw some recently, they were charging alot for them, like $6 or $8 a pint. I had never seen them red before I found these.
I did'nt mention in the disciption, but many of these seeds listed are heirlooms :)
