As you can see from the pictures provided, this is a Beautifully colored Half Geode! The entire interior is coated with crystals. I'm too much of a novice to be able to identify the druzy that coats this Geode, but, I'm sure that many here on Listia have a pretty good idea of what's what.
I WELCOME ALL COMMENTS THAT ATTEMPT TO IDENTIFY THESE CRYSTALS AND BRING LIGHT FROM DARKNESS, KNOWLEDGE FROM IGNORANCE!
All I can tell you in absolute truth is that they are Gorgeous, a sort of Smokey Quartz color which ranges from light to dark. The walls of the Geode are an actual Crystal Cavern, with what appear to be clear quartz Stalagmites and Stalactites formed of perfect tiny Points which merge with an outcropping of Snowy Quartz crystals at the opposite end. The outside of the Geode resembles an accreted stalagmite that has been sawed off at the base, presenting a series of concentric levels decreasing in diameter as it comes to the summit. The texture of the outside surface is a wavy pattern in which the seemingly concentric gradations can be felt as a raised pattern.
The people I purchased these from called them
'Oco Agate', and said they originated in Mexico, but didn't specify where in Mexico.
If you are looking for a beautiful specimen of Geode, but not necessarily something that weighs 10 pounds or blocks out the scenery, here's a good option for you!
From a Crystal Energy standpoint, I would imagine that the owner of this Geiode would acrew benefits from the Clear and Snowy Quartz Crystals within the cleft, If the main body does turn out to be Smokey Quartz, then you'd get the benefit from that, as well. And, as I was told that it was, at least in part, Agate, that influence, too would be forthcoming.
