This is pretty.I really do not know what it was for.I am guessing 1940's 50's Arts & Crafts.I thought maybe a traveling case for hats or sewing basket. If you know I would love to hear about it.The flowers are made out of the wicker.Really wonderful how they did that. The leaves are a yarn. The strap seem needs re-stitched ,easy fix.Fastners seem to be brass. It measures about 58 " round,21" across, about 5 1/2" deep with lid open, about 12" thick with lid closed. Bought at an estate sale about 10 yrs.ago. Winner pays exact shipping from 44720.I prefer hidden money or post office money order,Paypal excepted on as last resort and as personel.I am not a business.
Okay......Every zip code is different and I could not buy a box any smaller the 18 x 18 was just right but the 12 leaves alot of room for more items or lots of newspaper stuffing to keep it from bouncing around. Good Luck Samara.I love that name!
Oh no this is huge not ment to carry everyday.I think its a traveling sewing basket or hat suit case.It is 4 lbs. by itself. The box it fit into is 18 x 18 x12.If they made flat rate boxes that big everyone would be in heaven but a flat rate box that size would probrably be $100. dollars lol.
I have a very similair one and it is a traveling case. Women used it for personal belongings. That is what I was told when I was given mine at 15yrs old. Too bulky and large for a purse and hat boxes were cardboard covered with fabric or oil cloth. Sewing boxes were kept and home and were more decorative boxes; did not have the nice straps this one has.
sorry, meant to say sewing boxes were kept at home and not meant to be carried around. They were lined as well so that pins and buttons wouldn't fall out. This is a very pretty 'train' case as they were called. Very fancy and probably a well-to-do lady or very crafty lady owned this/made this.
You can go to www.usps.com Type in your zip code and mine that I gave above. The dimensions I gave and the weight. to get a genral idea of cost to your area.Include the .80 cents for confirmation also.
Yes it does have some dust collection .....I was going to take the vacuum cleaner attachment to it but am afraid since I am not a professional on anything old.
